Details.
Work full time as an open source developer on a variety of projects, almost all related to the Open edX platform and its ecosystem. Duties include creating pull requests to open source projects, developing features, documentation, tests and bug fixes, deploying and managing Open edX instances, improving automated deployment systems, automating repetitive work, leading projects, meeting with clients, creating roadmaps and budgets, completing development tasks and performing code reviews. Developers are generalists with a specialization in full stack software development. The role requires a solid understanding of Python, familiarity with Django, Linux command line and system administration, POSIX-compatible environments, CSS, JavaScript, React or a similar framework, SQL basics and unit testing. Knowledge of TypeScript, AWS, DigitalOcean, Kubernetes and Docker is helpful. Developers must be willing to learn public speaking and may present at community events, to clients or at the yearly Open edX conference. OpenCraft offers fully remote work, asynchronous two-week sprints, flexible scheduling, a flat structure, mentoring and an onboarding project. The work focuses on open source and the Open edX platform, contributing to online education and making learning more accessible.
