Brooklyn Math Tutors is seeking academically strong, well-rounded, empathic and dynamic tutors who can inspire, lead and connect with students individually. Tutors should have professional-level communication skills, strong personal investment in their students, a natural inclination toward helping others, and a serious commitment to their responsibilities. Preferred qualifications include a college degree with a strong GPA, extensive professional one-on-one tutoring experience, strong math ability, relevant standardized test scores for upper-level courses, and direct experience with younger children when tutoring those age groups. Tutors must be able to commit to a full academic year, live in or within an easy commute of Brooklyn, generally be available after 3pm on weekdays and weekend mornings, travel easily around Brooklyn, and take on at least 3 students per week. The role offers a high hourly rate, schedule and client choice, direct deposit, free training and resources, periodic free lunches and tutor gatherings, a transparent company culture, opportunities to build writing, marketing and management skills, and the chance to help students succeed. Applicants submit an application form, a 1 to 2 minute introduction video, a sample lesson video demonstrating how they explain a moderately difficult math problem to a struggling student, and a resume or CV. Further steps may include a Zoom chat and a short mock session.
