A research degree allowing candidates to undertake research as the sole component of their studies. Candidates may sometimes be eligible to transfer to a PhD. The MPhil takes 2 years full-time equivalent. Applicants must enrol through the University of Melbourne, meet the minimum entry requirements, check their eligibility, find a supervisor or research project, and submit an application after confirming an opportunity with a supervisor. Domestic students are automatically considered for the Research Training Program scholarship and international students for the Melbourne Research Scholarship. Both scholarships include a full-fee offset and living allowance.
