Candidates should demonstrate how they meet the person specification criteria and the impact of their experience. The role requires Qualified Teacher Status and either the Mandatory Qualification for Teachers of Deaf children and young people, or a strong SEND background with a commitment to completing the qualification, funded by the school. Essential experience includes successful teaching of children with SEND, leading initiatives with measurable impact, mentoring or developing staff, and working collaboratively with parents, carers and multi-agency teams. Candidates should have knowledge of SEND or deaf education research and best practice, relevant statutory regulations, inclusive practice, strong teaching, leadership, communication, organisation and data analysis skills, plus basic BSL skills or a willingness to learn.
