Unpaid volunteer internship available throughout the year for students currently enrolled in an academic program, with flexible start and end dates and applications accepted until filled. Interns work under the direct supervision of chief administrative judges and conduct legal research, draft orders and initial decisions, review transcripts and case files, make routine calls to parties, and observe and assist administrative judges during conferences and hearings. Interns are expected to work on-site at regional or field offices as circumstances permit. Students who have completed their first year of law school are encouraged to apply. Applications require a resume, writing sample, one or two references, and an interview. A transcript is required if selected. Academic credit documentation may be provided upon satisfactory completion, and a public transportation subsidy may be available if applicable.
