The American University of Rome is seeking an instructor to teach the 45-contact-hour Sustainable Food Systems course for its U.S.-accredited Master in Food Studies program. The course covers sustainability frameworks, food production, processing, consumption and disposal, food system stakeholders, public health, environmental and social and economic development, project management skills, and field trips to regional or local food systems in Italy. Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in agricultural economics, development economics or economic geography, previous teaching experience, and excellent English. Desirable qualifications include graduate-level or North American program teaching experience and professional experience in food and agricultural development policies or projects. Applicants must have the right to work in Italy and submit an application letter and CV with three references. The course starts in January 2027, with the application closing date on 15 July 2026.
