The American University of Rome is seeking an instructor to teach the 45-contact-hour course Sustainable Food Systems for the Master in Food Studies: Policies for Sustainable Production and Consumption. The course reviews sustainability frameworks, food system trade-offs, food production, processing, consumption and disposal, the roles of different sectors and stakeholders, public health, environmental and socioeconomic development, and project management skills related to sustainability. One or more field trips to regional or local food systems in Italy will be included. Required qualifications are a Ph.D. in agricultural economics, development economics or economic geography, previous teaching experience, and excellent knowledge of English. Desirable qualifications include graduate-level or North American program teaching experience and professional experience in food and agricultural development policies or projects. Applicants must have the right to work in Italy. The course starts in January 2027 and runs during the spring semester, with subsequent delivery in the fall semester.
