A foundation trainee completes a two-year paid training job in a hospital or other medical setting, covering a range of medical specialties including surgery. The programme consists of different three-month rotations and is designed to develop experience of working as a doctor and help trainees decide what kind of doctor they want to be. Successful completion of an approved medical degree is required.
