Carry out overt inquiries, interviews and statement taking in investigations including insurance, workers compensation, negligence, motor vehicle accident and theft claims. The role involves communicating in detail with interviewees, identifying inconsistencies or unexplained issues, appraising evidence and producing clear, detailed written reports. Applicants need advanced spoken and written English, strong communication skills, attention to detail, time management, accountability, the ability to work with people and think creatively. Knowledge of workers compensation law, torts law and how insurance claims work is identified as useful. Factual investigators are commonly engaged on a subcontract basis and are generally paid between $35 and $45 per hour, plus some travel and commonly around 50 to 70 cents per kilometre.
