Under the direction of the Secretary General, the Director advises and assists with the day to day management of the Secretariat, coordinates and manages the Directorate's workload, and implements ACS policies, plans and work programmes covering Trade, Transport, Sustainable Tourism and External Economic Relations. Duties include advising on and implementing policies, programmes and projects, supporting institutional strengthening and training, assisting with presentations to Executive Boards and the Ministerial Council, overseeing programmes and projects, developing cooperation projects, preparing meeting documents and reports, participating in committees and conferences, preparing papers and lectures, and representing the Secretary General when designated. The role also involves developing work programmes aligned with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, supporting economic and trade integration, compiling regional statistics, promoting sustainable development and capacity building, and identifying financial resources. Candidates must have a postgraduate university degree in International Relations, Development Studies, Economics or another relevant field, at least 15 years of relevant experience, preferably at international or regional level, and experience managing projects funded by international cooperation agencies or participating in international negotiations. Excellent oral and written communication skills in at least two official ACS languages, strong interpersonal, leadership, teamwork, decision-making and management skills, and the ability to work in a multicultural environment are required. The initial contract is for three years, with an option for one two-year renewal. The post includes supervision of two Advisors, two Research Assistants and a Secretary, and requires official travel.
