Learn to drive large buses, such as 40-foot or 60-foot buses. Transit Operators focus on excellent customer service, passenger safety, and punctuality. The role includes rotating shifts across mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, statutory holidays, and overnight periods. Operators may move between bus depots and must assist with bike racks, secure customers in wheelchairs and scooters, complete vehicle inspections, sit for long periods while driving, work independently, prioritize passenger safety, make prompt decisions, and address situations professionally. Applicants must be legally able to work permanently in Canada, hold at least a Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence or equivalent, be eligible for a Class 2 BC Commercial Learner’s Driver’s Licence with an air brake endorsement, pass the required driving history, Police Information Check, and medical assessment requirements, understand and communicate in English, and have strong customer service skills. This is a full-time, regular position with a weekly schedule of 37.5 hours. Successful candidates start as Operator Trainees and complete a fully paid training program.
