Based in the South Bay, the Community Organizer will organize Pangea clients, former clients, family members, and other community members in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. Responsibilities include identifying, recruiting, training, and developing community leaders; supporting immigrant rights campaigns; leading and supporting individual anti-deportation campaigns with attorneys; facilitating organizing meetings and calls; planning and coordinating events and actions; mobilizing community members; and helping maintain and grow Pangea as a democratically run organization. Required qualifications include fluency in spoken Spanish and English, at least 3 years of immigrant rights, labor, or community organizing experience, experience with base building and leadership development, strong organizational skills, experience creating online petitions and using social and traditional media for campaigns, access to a vehicle, and availability some evenings and weekends. The position offers a 4-day work week, health insurance, health and childcare reimbursements, retirement contributions, professional development support, and paid vacation and holidays. The first 9 months are a training and orientation period with a salary of $85,000 per year. After successfully completing this period, the employee is voted on as a full team member and their title is updated to Co-Director.
