Work within GP practices to improve patient care through the safe and effective use of medicines. Duties include providing expert prescribing advice, supporting medication reviews, managing long-term conditions, implementing medicines optimisation initiatives, ensuring compliance with NICE guidance, reducing clinical risk and improving prescribing processes. Requirements include mandatory registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council, a Master's degree in Pharmacy or equivalent, completion of the 18-month CPPE pathway or active participation in it, and being an Independent Prescriber or actively working towards the qualification.
