Serve as a member of the Civil Grand Jury for a 12-month period beginning each July and ending in June of the following year. Service is a full-time job. Members examine all aspects of county government, municipalities, and special districts to assess whether the County is governed honestly and efficiently and whether county monies are handled appropriately. The Civil Grand Jury also investigates individual complaints from citizens and inquires into the conditions and management of public prisons within Los Angeles County.
