Mycrobez is seeking a Bioprocess Engineer to optimise and scale up bioprocessing methods for sustainable material production. Responsibilities include operating bioreactors, executing validation experiments focused on media optimisation, collaborating with Production and Engineering teams to refine and scale production processes, contributing to weekly process improvement and troubleshooting meetings, reporting to the Head of Process Engineering, proposing innovative solutions, and supporting the development of new production machines. The ideal candidate has an academic background in Food Technology, Bioprocess Engineering, Process Engineering, Brewing and Beverage Technology, Chemical Engineering, or Biotechnology, hands-on experience in wet lab and industrial production environments, experience scaling fermentation processes from laboratory scale to over 2,500 litres, and experience developing production machinery and managing hardware development projects. Knowledge of filamentous fungi, myco-materials, and biowaste valorisation is an advantage. Fluency in English and/or German is required. The role is based in Basel, Switzerland, with a workload of 60% or more.
