Project U.S.E. is hiring Adventure Education Instructors for the 2020 season at its Wildcat Mountain Wilderness Center. Instructors deliver adventure-based programs, lead groups of 10 to 15 participants, teach activities emphasizing leadership, teamwork, positive communication, trust, community, environmental education and conflict resolution, and encourage groups to connect with the natural world. Courses may include teambuilding activities, trust exercises, hiking, canoeing, orienteering, back-country camping, low and high ropes course elements, and rock climbing. Additional duties may include preparing food and gear, logistics work, light trail maintenance and researching new activities or locations. Applicants must be over 18, passionate about teaching or working with young people, able to pass a background check, comfortable working outdoors in all weather and speaking to groups, and have a clean driver's license. Preferred qualifications include wilderness first aid, wilderness first responder, basic first aid and CPR, lifeguard certification, and outdoor activity experience. This is an opportunity to gain experience working with young people in a non-traditional environment, develop teamwork and leadership skills, work outdoors and use gear and equipment. Communal housing is available at the Staff House.
