VACCHO's Aboriginal Medical Cadetship Program offers four cadetships over two years in a participating Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation in Victoria. Cadets are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander medical students enrolled in a medical degree at an Australian university. The paid role is undertaken for 4 to 12 weeks per year during university breaks, with duties tailored to the student's availability and the ACCO's needs. Work may include health promotion, social and emotional wellbeing, clinical operations and other areas. Cadets are paid a salary equivalent to an Aboriginal health worker, approximately $1,248 per week while working, and are supported with travel and accommodation costs. Applications have now closed.
