Details.
A specialist consultation for people who notice mild cognitive difficulties, such as forgetfulness, impaired memory, increasing planning problems or gradual changes in behaviour, or whose relatives have noticed these changes. The service is not intended for people with an established diagnosis of dementia or severe memory impairment. Following an initial consultation, the usual process includes three appointments: a detailed history and psychiatric assessment with the patient and relatives, neuropsychological testing and, in some cases, a lumbar puncture, followed by a final consultation with advice and recommendations for further treatment and support. A referral from a treating doctor is required.
